Senior Manager, Environmental Programs
The Senior Manager, Environmental Programs is responsible for advancing OmniTRAX's environmental compliance and risk management across a growing portfolio of short line railroads. The role focuses on strengthening consistency, scalability, and portfolio-level visibility through clear processes, effective use of technology, and proactive engagement with field operations.
The position will work closely with existing environmental resources and under the direct involvement of the SVP, HSE to develop a strong understanding of current practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive practical, business-aligned enhancements. Success in this role will be measured not only by work completed, but by improved consistency, transparency, and the overall maturity of environmental programs over time. The role also provides the opportunity to help shape OmniTRAX's practical, business-aligned approach to environmental stewardship and sustainability as the company continues to grow.
This is a remote position. The company is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and occasional travel to the Denver office may be required.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience supporting environmental compliance or environmental programs in railroad operations or a closely related rail-adjacent environment.
- Working knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements applicable to railroad operations.
- Experience or working familiarity with environmental due diligence, remediation projects, or environmental capital planning.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and systems-thinking skills.
- Comfort using and evaluating technology and data tools.
- Willingness to travel and spend time in the field.
Preferred
- Experience supporting environmental programs across multiple sites or properties.
- Experience implementing or improving environmental compliance systems, audit processes, or technology tools.
- Demonstrated ability to grow in scope and responsibility and to take on increasingly complex program leadership.
- Experience or interest in developing practical sustainability or environmental stewardship initiatives in an operational or industrial setting.
Work Environment
This position involves a combination of office-based, travel, and field-based work. Field work may occur at active railroad properties, industrial sites, terminals, and right-of-way locations, and may involve outdoor conditions, uneven terrain, noise, and proximity to operating equipment.
Work may be performed in varying weather conditions and environments. Required personal protective equipment must be worn as applicable. Office work includes routine use of standard office and mobile technology.
Travel
Up to 75% travel, including frequent air travel and driving to access railroad properties, industrial sites, and right-of-way locations. Travel schedules may vary based on operational needs and may include early mornings, evenings, or multiple locations within a single trip.
Compensation
- Estimated Starting Annual Salary: $150,000.00
- Exact starting salary is determined by merit; seniority; geographic location; education, training, and/or experience related to job duties and responsibilities
- FLSA Status: Exempt, Not Eligible for Overtime

Physical Requirements
This position requires a combination of office-based and field-based work. The employee must be able to safely access active railroad environments and industrial sites, with or without reasonable accommodation.
