Engineering Technician

Job Description

A customer of Insight Global is seeking an Engineering Technician to support product development, testing, and prototype activities within a manufacturing environment. This is a newly created position that will work closely with the engineering team from the early stages of development through testing and production support.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, building and evaluating prototypes, and collaborating with engineering and quality teams to help bring new products to market.

Responsibilities - - - -

Build, assemble, and evaluate prototypes to support new product development projects.

Conduct testing and document results using established procedures and engineering guidelines.

Partner with engineers throughout the product development process, from concept through validation.

Assist with troubleshooting product and manufacturing-related issues.

Maintain accurate test records, reports, and technical documentation utilizing Microsoft Office tools.

Support engineering investigations, product improvements, and design validation efforts.

Coordinate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to ensure products meet performance and reliability expectations.

Help maintain laboratory equipment, test fixtures, and related technical resources.

Skills and Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) or a related technical discipline (highly preferred)

5+ years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing,

testing, prototype, or product development environment.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to build, modify, and troubleshoot prototypes.

Experience documenting test results and creating technical reports.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.

Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software is a plus. Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or product development efforts.

Exposure to manufacturing, testing, validation, or mechanical product development environments.

Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication, product testing, and technical problem solving.

Comfortable working in a role that bridges engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions without being a dedicated QA position.
