The Account Supervisor (AS) is a senior client-facing leader responsible for owning day-to-day account performance, leading media relations strategy and driving sustained, high-impact storytelling across client engagements. This role sits between execution and full portfolio ownership, with clear accountability for results, client experience and team performance. As an Account Supervisor, you lead the media relations workstream within proactive communications, translating strategy into sequenced action and ensuring a consistent cadence of high-quality media placements. You bring strong news judgment, identify timely opportunities and shape narrative arcs that generate sustained visibility across national, regional and cross-beat outlets. You serve as a trusted advisor to clients and a leader to the team, mentoring Account Executives and Associates while elevating the quality, pace and impact of the work. Through disciplined execution, strong relationships with journalists and clear accountability for outcomes, you ensure client priorities are advanced through consistent, strategic media coverage. Responsibilities Own day-to-day leadership for assigned clients, serving as the primary point of accountability for results, experience and momentum. Lead media relations strategy and execution, driving a consistent cadence of high-impact placements across national, regional and cross-beat news outlets. Develop and execute narrative arcs and storylines that generate sustained media coverage over time rather than one-off placements. Identify and capitalize on timely opportunities including breaking news, trend stories and newsjacking moments aligned with client priorities. Pitch reporters directly and regularly, securing placements in influential outlets including national publications and multi-syndicate platforms. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists across key beats including policy, politics, business and general news. Provide strategic counsel and shape messaging that helps organizations tell compelling, relevant stories to priority audiences. Track and evaluate media performance and narrative momentum to ensure coverage advances client strategy and goals. Identify risks, misalignment or performance issues early and take corrective action to protect client value and team effectiveness. Coordinate and direct the work of Account Executives and Associates, ensuring clarity of roles, strong execution and consistent quality. Oversee and approve high-quality communications materials including press releases, pitches, fact sheets, talking points and presentations. Support new business development through proposal contributions, pitch participation and relationship development. Stay current on public relations trends and media dynamics, applying insights to strengthen strategy and execution. Represent Larson Communications as a senior ambassador with professionalism, credibility and a team-first mindset. Qualifications 7–9 years of professional experience in public relations, communications or public policy with strong emphasis on media relations. Demonstrated success pitching reporters and securing consistent, high-quality media placements across multiple outlets. Proven track record of generating sustained media coverage through narrative arcs, proactive storytelling and timely opportunity identification. Strong news judgment and ability to identify compelling story angles tied to current events and trends. Experience building and maintaining productive relationships with journalists across multiple beats. Demonstrated experience leading client accounts and providing strategic counsel. Proven ability to mentor and manage junior team members while driving high-quality execution. Ability to manage complexity, competing priorities and deadlines with strong judgment and accountability. Exceptional writing and editing skills for media-facing communications. Strong verbal communication skills and professional presence. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, public policy or a related field. Preferred Skills Experience working in a public relations agency environment. Experience securing placements in national or multi-syndicate publications. Experience developing and executing proactive media strategies tied to long-term campaigns. Experience pitching across multiple beats including policy, politics, business or general news. Familiarity with media monitoring and analytics tools such as Muckrack or similar platforms. Familiarity with tools such as Asana, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite. Pay Range and Compensation Package Salary range: $84,000-$102,000, based on experience, qualifications, organizational equity and budget.
