About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Must be comfortable with managing both 'clean' and 'dirty' patients. Description: Unit has a total of 28 private beds. Ratios for nurses are 1:6-7. Charge Nurse and House Supervisor are available. Clinical Manager is present from Monday to Saturday. Resource nurse on nights takes a full patient assignment. CNA support is available on days, but not on nights. Weekend shifts required every other weekend. Staff typically work Friday through Sunday to fulfill weekend requirements. Work includes participation in holiday rotation. Scrub color required is navy blue. Patients may be on remote telemetry. No monitoring equipment is available on the unit. Nurses can administer drips, including heparin and comfort measures. Ventilation support includes BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow. Shifts for RNs are 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. CNA shifts are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Self-scheduling is allowed as long as unit needs are met. Floating would only occur to other Medical Surgical units. Floor-specific orientation consists of one shift with a preceptor. Common patient diagnoses include postoperative, orthopedic, pneumonia, and palliative care. Patients undergoing chemotherapy may also be housed in this unit, with a low volume for inpatient chemotherapy. Current COVID patients are housed in designated areas of the unit. Must be adaptable to care for both 'clean' and 'dirty' patients simultaneously. Cancellation policy allows for two shift cancellations per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Cerner.
