Anesthesia Focused Veterinary Assistant

We are rapidly expanding, and are looking for an amazing associate to join our team! This person would be able to jump into an established surgery team, learning Banfield Protocols, and being able to support the additional doctors onboarding to this location. Ideally this position would be helping out surgery 4 (10 hr) or 5 (8 hr) shifts a week. There would be duties outside of surgery that you may need to assist with, but this position is focused on surgery! We may be looking for a unicorn, but we do believe we will find the right fit. Responsibilities Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Performs pre-surgical physical exam with DVM; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal. Able to set up intravenous fluids. Administers subcutaneous fluids. Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors. Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically. Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload. You will also need to perform the job duties of the Veterinary Assistant, but the focus is on Surgery. The pay range for this role is $18.40 - $23.51 Hourly. The pay range listed reflects a general hiring range for the area, with the specific rate determined based on the candidate’s experience, skill level, and education, and may vary depending on location or applicable minimum wage laws.
