- Location: Remote (based in Irving, TX 75038) - Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area
- Job Title: Inpatient Coder / Hospital Coder
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,126 - $1,251
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks
- Shifts per Week: 5
- Shift Duration: 8-hour days
- Start Date: March 23, 2026
- Hours per Week: 40
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient coding experience in a hospital or acute care setting (inpatient coding / ICD-10 coding)
- High school diploma required; additional coding certification or training preferred
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding and official coding guidelines
- Experience with Epic, 3M, and One Content preferred (experience with EHR / electronic health record systems)
- Ability to maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher
- Must pass the Christus Test with a score of 85% or higher
- Credential verification, background check, drug screening, and employment verification required prior to start
- Preferred (if applicable): CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or CPC-H certification
- Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient encounters following ICD-10-CM/PCS and facility-specific guidelines (inpatient coding, hospital coding)
- Review clinical documentation, operative reports, labs, and diagnostic results for complete and compliant coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) support
- Abstract and enter required data into electronic medical record/coding systems (Epic, 3M, One Content)
- Validate admission orders, discharge dispositions, and other key demographic/account information to ensure accurate billing and claims submission
- Work assigned coding queues to ensure timely, high-quality completion of accounts and coding throughput
- Collaborate with Health Information Management (HIM), Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) specialists, and providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding questions
- Support departmental audits, compliance reviews, and quality improvement initiatives as requested by leadership
