Phlebotomist

Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. Responsibilities * Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. * Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. * Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. * Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. * Explain the venipuncture or specimen collection process in a clear and courteous manner. * Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. * Understand and execute all physicians' orders accurately. * Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. * Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. * Verify test requisitions against scripts for accuracy. * Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures. * Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. * Attend annual department trainings. * Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. Essential Skills * Phlebotomy experience of 1-2 years. * Proficiency in blood draw and specimen collection. * Strong customer service skills. * Experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting. * High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required. * Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. * Experience working with all age groups is preferred. Work Environment Work in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Use of Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
