Job Description
Division/Department: Human Services/Elderly Nutrition Program
Location: Community Centers- As Designated - Onsite
Reports To: Elderly Nutrition Program Manager
Probationary Period: 90 days Full time, 120 days Part time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Classification: Child-Related CA
Driver's License: No Driver's License required.
Rate of Pay: $18.78 to $21.13 hourly.
Responsibilities
Plans and develops lunch menus based on nutritional guidelines for elderly participants.
Prepare food according to planned menu and determines if finished product is of the best quality in flavor and appearance before it is served to eligible participants in designated district.
Signs for and inventories all food orders to ensure complete order is received, assist with stocking shelves.
Ensures all kitchen staff are cross trained in planning menus, ordering food, inventory process, and cash handling policy.
Track congregate and home delivery meals through sign-in and delivery logs. Submit logs to Elderly Nutrition Program Manager on a weekly basis.
Collect meal donations and meal costs on a daily basis. Follow cash handling policy on process of counting money and bring collected money to Accounting office, on a weekly basis.
Establish a schedule sign in sheet for use by employees to mark hours that they have worked.
Responsible for all kitchen employees' annual leave requests, evaluations, and discipline including signing off on timecards.
Submit all invoices to the Elderly Nutrition Program Manager.
Responsible for scheduling appointments for ENP van repair.
Assign duties to all kitchen staff as needed.
Assist with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes.
Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Inspects for health/safety hazards and reports to the Elderly Nutrition Program Manager.
Fills in when and wherever necessary in order to maintain a smooth-running operation.
Be familiar with the Title VI, USDA guidelines and program policies.
Orders all necessary food and supplies for the Elderly Nutrition Program on a weekly basis with input from kitchen staff.
Appropriate work attire is required.
Must attend all mandatory department trainings
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary
Qualifications
Experience and knowledge of daily nutrition requirements for elderly participants is required.
Food handler's certification is required; if not certified at the time of hire, employee must become certified within 6 months of hire and must maintain certification for the duration of employment.
Safe Serve Certification is preferred.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs, and beliefs is preferred.
Experience working with Native Americans clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred.
Baking skills are required.
Ability to keep accurate records and inventory control is desired.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation's Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
Some travel may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds is required.
Walking, standing, bending stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling are required.
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including a non-smoking work environment
