JOB DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS:

(1) Bachelor's degree preferred.

(2) Minimum 3 years of technology experience and preferably in education

(3) Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

• Knowledge of best practice of physical security
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent knowledge of computer systems
• Excellent knowledge in Apple devices and MDM software

JOB GOAL


Assist in facilitating the effective integration of information systems and other technologies into the teaching/learning process.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* (1) Assist in planning for the effective implementation of the district student information system (SIS).

* (2) Assist in managing, administering, and is another point of contact for physical security for the school system.

* (3) Assist in administering systems, servers, and databases in order to ensure optimal performance and continuous availability of services to authorized users in support of digital learning and student instruction.

* (4) Assist in safeguarding information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems.

* (5) Supports analysis, assessment, and mitigation of vulnerabilities in systems and servers in order to ensure optimal performance and continuous availability of services to authorized users in support of digital learning and student instruction.

* (6) Assist in monitoring the operational security posture of the district, conducting reviews of security controls, auditing user permissions, and contributing to the successful completion of all physical and cyber security goals.

* (7) Communicates effectively with staff to provide direction, feedback, and expertise in regards to the installation, upgrade, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of systems equipment and assists as needed in the resolution of emergency situations, escalated issues, and concerns of a more complex nature; may observe assigned staff on-site at district schools and facilities on an as-needed basis.

* (8) Aids in facilitating high-quality professional development to confirm assigned staff are fully equipped to address a broad spectrum of technical issues; prepares, arranges, and conducts a wide variety of hands-on training activities and works with staff members in groups or individually to provide guidance, demonstrate best practices, and refine knowledge and skills.

* (9) Assist in designing and configuring complex server infrastructure, connectivity, and security for the purpose of ensuring effective and e e efficient networking systems.

*(10) Assist in analyzing server usage, uptime, utilization, and capacity, and recommend upgrades, changes, and/or optimizations of servers as needed to meet current and future network requirements.

*(11) Assist in establishing standardized guidelines and solutions for the operation and maintenance of systems and databases, including but not limited to remote access, file, print, application, and active directory services.

*(12) Assist in performing server administration tasks as needed, including but not limited to creating new users, assigning user access rights, monitoring user rights, identifying and resolving problems, etc.

*(13) Provides extensive technical expertise in database management, scripting, automation, connectivity of multiple databases, and securing user information.

*(14) Assists in the development of district policies and procedures governing technology, data issues, and system security and enforces those policies and procedures as needed.

*(15) Remains current on technology trends and advancements in order to proactively provide users with information regarding technological and network capability developments, procedure modifications, and other related changes; researches and recommends solutions, equipment, and resources as applicable to ACS needs.

*(16) Provides and ensures employees' participation in professional developmental training opportunities as needed to perform their job duties.

*(17) Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving operating procedures to improve efficiency and effective use of school resources.

*(18) Addresses any issues in local schools related to the SIS database as requested.

*(19) Assist in managing district data and provide feedback to local schools concerning the consistency of data.

*(20) Assist in managing data collections and reporting, and collaborate with the state, district administration, parents, students, and staff to gather required information.

*(21) Assist with the administration of district-managed devices through mobile device management tools.

*(21) Assist in training new staff.

*(22) Develop and continually improve professional skills appropriate to job assignment.

*(23) Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

*(24) Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit community support in realizing the mission.

*(25) Use appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.

*(26) Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

*(27) Work with the Systems Administrator and Network Administrator as needed.

*(28) Works on-call for after-hour systems and database service issues.

*(29) Performs other assigned duties as assigned by the Director of Technology


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasional district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan.

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

EVALUATION:


Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
