Director, Global Financial Crimes Compliance Advisory and Export Control

About the Role We are seeking a Director, Global Financial Crimes Compliance Advisory and Export Control to serve as the second line of defense in regulatory advice and execution oversight across sanctions, export controls, anti‑money laundering (AML), and anti‑bribery/anti‑corruption (ABC). The Director will protect S&P Global from financial crimes compliance risks, advise on new product approvals and strategic growth, and ensure compliance requirements are embedded into product design, governance and operations worldwide. Key Responsibilities Provide risk‑based regulatory advice on complex sanctions, export control, AML, and ABC matters to all S&P Global divisions and functions. Translate complex compliance standards into scalable solutions that balance innovation with risk protection. Advise on higher‑risk topics such as restricted party and jurisdictional risk, customer/third‑party risk, payment/use‑case risk, data/content/service delivery risk, and cross‑border considerations. Represent FCC in new product approval forums and other governance bodies across all divisions. Partner with Product, Technology, Legal, Risk, Privacy, Procurement, and Operations to embed FCC requirements into design, controls, workflows and monitoring. Establish clear go/no‑go criteria, escalation paths and approval conditions for higher‑risk initiatives; document decisions for auditability. Engage with divisional compliance and first‑line teams to drive consistent FCC adoption and operationalization across the enterprise. Lead cross‑functional working groups to resolve complex issues, remove blockers and ensure consistent execution across regions. Embed FCC into enterprise change initiatives (product enhancements, technology modernization, process re‑engineering, operating model changes, vendor transformations, geographic expansion readiness). Act as a strategic second‑line adviser to design controls into workflows early, align compliance with business outcomes, and advocate for FCC needs in planning cycles. Proactively identify emerging risks, challenge stakeholders and ensure the program supports business goals while staying within risk appetite. Qualifications 10+ years of financial crimes compliance experience in a highly regulated, global organization (or equivalent advisory experience). Deep expertise in sanctions compliance with ability to advise on complex, ambiguous scenarios. Subject‑matter expert in U.S. Treasury OFAC, UK OFSI, and EU sanctions guidance. Working knowledge and advisory capability across export controls, AML, and ABC – depth may vary by topic. Attention to detail, strong judgment, and ability to convert regulatory expectations into implementable requirements. Excellent stakeholder management skills; ability to influence, negotiate, and drive decisions with senior leaders. Strong analytical skills and ability to create clear executive‑level reporting and metrics. Experience developing or enhancing financial crimes‑related program elements within existing structures. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives, projects and tasks. Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and quantitative skills; capable of designing compliance solutions. Self‑motivated, well‑organized, and able to prioritize tasks under pressure. Forward‑thinking approach with experience integrating AI and modern technologies to automate routine tasks. Preferred: Experience in both U.S. and non‑U.S. financial institutions with global responsibility. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree strongly preferred), ICA, ACAMS, ACSCA or other relevant sanctions certification. Proven project management skills. Compensation & Benefits For U.S. candidates, the anticipated base salary range is $149,031USD to $260,291.25USD. Final base compensation depends on geographic location, experience, skill set, and certifications. The role is eligible for an annual incentive plan but is not eligible for sales commissions.
