Position Summary Under moderate supervision, the Assembler Technician will lay out, position, align and fit together fabricated metal parts, electrical components/wiring and hydraulic attachments according to specifications. This position requires fabricating and welding metal components as part of the install assembly process. Essential Functions Of The Job Heavy Duty Truck Installer: Layout (plan) position, align and fit components together Bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure in position Set up equipment and weld parts for mounting tilt fronts, dump bodies, etc. Perform at least one of the following functions: Assembler: Lay out, fit, cut and weld fabricated parts, using appropriate tools and welding equipment to assemble or install dump bodies, hitches, armatures, and any other parts and equipment according to instructions. Electrical: Install electrical equipment on plow trucks and dump trucks, including running wires, mounting brackets, switches, and control boxes, while following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications. Test all installed equipment and wiring to determine proper functioning. Hydraulics: Select equipment, plan layout, and assemble or install hydraulics on equipment according to instructions. Cab Controls: Assist with installation of equipment in truck cabs as necessary. Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Team Lead or Managers to support the truck build operations process and shop maintenance. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA's) Knowledge of shop math. Knowledge of basic procedures of voltage and amperage is a plus. Able to use hand and power tools; such as grinders and de‑burring equipment. Able to perform standard measurements. Able to operate a manual crane hoist, forklift, and hand truck. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Able to wear personal protective equipment. Able to work overtime and/or on weekends as production schedules dictate. Education And Experience High school diploma or GED preferred; technical trade school preferred. Working Conditions Work performed in a non‑climate controlled metal manufacturing production environment, with frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling, standing, twisting, bending, and climbing around metal fabricated parts, equipment and machinery. Frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of 50 pounds alone and 100+ pounds with assistance. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify required material and operate production fabrication equipment (i.e. hand tools, power tools, etc.). Steel toe boots and use of personal protective equipment are a requirement of this position.
