Position Summary

This is a professional position responsible for attending and planning Community events and representing APD. This position is also responsible for being the liaison for APD in communications with other Agencies.

The Work You Will Do


Prepare for and attend Family Care Council Meetings held monthly in the Suncoast Region. Assist with Governor appointed board membership applications. Participation may be electronic at times. Process travel and financial documents for each Council and act as a liaison with APD regional and state offices. Provide training to FCC on Robert's Rules of Order and APD policies. Assists and coordinates FCC recruitment efforts under the direction of State Office and Regional Operations Manager.


Attend community-based events with partner agencies representing APD and the interests of the individuals we serve. Attendance may involve presenting information on Agency programs and services. Focus will include County school functions to strengthen ties with ESE transition councils, DCF related functions, and other State and County organizations that serve individuals with Developmental Disabilities.


Manage the Community-Based Care (CBC) project, acting as the lead for the Agency in processing new applications, participating in monthly calls, and interfacing with DCF, their Contract Agencies and APD providers. Initiate and maintain required paperwork.

Provide training and certification for supported employment and supported living providers. Offer technical assistance to supported employment/supported living providers, as needed.

Process supported living subsidies to include: interaction with providers, coordinate with fiscal office, maintain spreadsheet on eligibilities and denials.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school Diploma or its equivalent.

• Must have valid Driver's License or other efficient means of transportation to travel for work purposes.

• Must have knowledge and at least two years professional work experience with Developmental Disabilities or Mental Illness, or the principles and practices of one of the allied health field principles or one of the rehabilitative sciences.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of:

• Using databases, electronic files, and Microsoft Office Programs.

Background Screening Requirement

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
