Their software centralizes and automates the full lifecycle of Environmental Remediation Obligations (EROs) and Asset Retirement Obligations (AROs) for global industrial enterprises — replacing fragmented spreadsheets and outdated tools with a purpose-built, multi-tenant SaaS platform.Our client is seeking someone who brings deep engineering expertise, a strong Computer Science foundation, and a passion for solving real-world problems at scale. Experience with data-driven applications or highly regulated industries (energy, environmental, finance) is a plus.What You Will Be Doing35% — Backend Systems & APIs: Design and build scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that power the enterprise platform, ensuring reliability and maintainability at scale. 25% — Data Pipelines & Integration: Develop and optimize robust data pipelines and ETL workflows that integrate complex, multi-source environmental and financial data, supporting efficient customer onboarding and large-scale migrations. 20% — Architecture & Technical Direction: Own features end-to-end from architecture through deployment and iteration; contribute to platform-wide design decisions and help evolve the technical roadmap. 10% — AI-Driven Automation: Help integrate AI agents into core business workflows, embedding intelligence into process automation to drive measurable business value. 10% — Quality, Mentorship & Reliability: Champion best practices through code reviews and mentorship; build with monitoring, metrics, and alerting in mind, and lead post-incident reviews to strengthen system resilience.Platform EnvironmentLanguages: Java (Python a plus) Frameworks: Spring Boot, React Data & Messaging: Redis, RabbitMQ, WebSockets DevOps: GitLab, Ansible, Docker, CI/CD pipelines Cloud: AWS or Azure Emerging: ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), LLMs, AI agentsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems in a high-growth or enterprise environment Proven ability to design scalable architectures, write clean code, and ship high-quality software in Java, Python, or similar Strong experience with modern development practices — CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure) Experience with data integration, ETL pipelines, and tools for migrating, transforming, and validating complex datasets Excellent problem-solving skills with a bias for action and a strong sense of ownership from design through deployment Collaborative team player with strong communication skills and a desire to mentor othersNice to HaveFamiliarity with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and interest in LLMs and AI agents Passion for innovation in AI/ML and a commitment to continuous learning Experience in highly regulated industries (energy, environmental, finance)BenefitsCompetitive market salary Paid Time Off (vacation, sick days, public holidays) Health care plan Flexible Spending Account & 401(k) retirement plan Pre-IPO stock optionsLI-JD17
