A day in this role

The conveyor slows. A sensor trips. You step in. With a practiced eye, you trace the issue from the HMI to the control panel, verify the Allen‑Bradley PLC I/O, and isolate a faulty component. After a safe lockout, you remove the part, adjust the mechanism, make the repair, and validate performance. Before you leave the area, you capture notes in the CMMS, tidy the workspace to 5S standards, and log learnings that feed our continuous improvement efforts.

• Perform mid to advanced break/fix and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment—identify root causes, dismantle and inspect components, adjust controls, repair or replace parts, and verify operation.
• Conduct electrical and mechanical testing, including checks of circuits, sensors, and power transmission systems; recondition and repair machine tools as needed.
• Source and requisition parts, supplies, and repair items; work independently in alignment with industry best practices.
• Set up and operate shop equipment—lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools—to fabricate or restore components; perform welding when required.
• Maintain 5S/housekeeping in all work areas; champion a safe, orderly, and efficient environment.
• Drive continuous improvement (CI) by contributing to better processes, measurable results, and cost savings.
• Keep accurate records, review equipment history, and close work orders in the CMMS.
• Troubleshoot control systems to resolve software, hardware, and configuration issues.
• Use predictive maintenance technologies to collect and interpret equipment performance data.
• Mentor junior technicians; occasionally lead small teams and take on advanced tasks as part of your development plan.
• Engage in on‑the‑job learning and technical self‑study to grow your career.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and technical instructions; maintain situational awareness to identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Either: an associate degree with a technical focus plus 3 years of related general‑industry experience; or 5 years of related experience; or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems, with the ability to diagnose issues and complete repairs.
• Proficiency with basic and specialized hand tools.
• Willingness to travel as required.
