OTR | Occupational Therapist - Regional Therapy Specialist

As an Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate patients to determine if therapy can alleviate pain, improve function, or enhance quality of life. Your role involves collaborating closely with nursing staff to identify patients who have experienced falls or functional decline, ensuring timely and effective intervention.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quarterly screenings for all patients, including new admissions and re-admissions.
• Utilize SMART tools to document and print screening forms accurately.
• Schedule and perform patient screenings, reviewing charts to assess prior and current functional levels.
• Perform visual assessments and engage patients to understand their concerns and complaints.
• Gather insights from nursing staff regarding patient functionality and challenges.
• Determine the necessity for therapy services or environmental adjustments based on screening outcomes.
• Provide recommendations to the therapy team to optimize patient care plans.
• Monitor patients not requiring therapy services regularly to maintain their highest functional level.

Education

Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) credential from an accredited program.

Experience

Previous experience in patient screening and therapy assessment is preferred, especially within regional healthcare settings.

Requirements

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with nursing and therapy teams. Ability to use electronic health record systems and screening tools proficiently.
