Position Overview

This role sits at the intersection of technology and business development, and is ideally suited to someone who can translate complex technical capabilities into compelling real-world solutions. The Solutions Engineer will support the full sales cycle by creating demonstrations, defining proof of concept applications, and advising prospects and partners on how the company's GIS software solves their specific business challenges. From one-on-one discovery conversations to large-scale presentations and industry events, this person will be a visible and trusted technical voice for the business. With a base salary of $70,000 to $80,000 and on-target earnings of $80,000 to $90,000, this is a strong opportunity for a technically grounded professional who enjoys the energy of presales and the satisfaction of seeing their work directly influence customer decisions. The role is remote, with a preference for candidates in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide technical and product expertise to the sales team, prospective customers, and partners throughout the sales process.
• Build and showcase demonstration solutions tailored to prospective customer business requirements, highlighting how the company's technology solves real-world problems.
• Develop and maintain an enterprise-level demonstration environment that reflects current product capabilities and integrations.
• Translate prospect business requirements into architecture and design specifications, and define proof of concept applications aligned with implementation best practices.
• Coordinate the resolution of technical and product questions that arise during the sales process, partnering with internal teams as needed.
• Deliver presentations, training sessions, and workshops at marketing events and customer engagements.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to develop internal and external solution marketing resources and position key capabilities with stakeholders.
• Educate sales staff and partners on the business value of the company's GIS software and the broader architecture it enables.

Position Qualifications

Required:

• A proven track record of translating technical software capabilities into clear business value for diverse audiences, developed through experience in technical presales, product marketing, product management, or a related role.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar or related role within a software company, working across stakeholders in sales, marketing, product development, and professional services.
• Proficiency with programming languages including Python, JavaScript, and SQL, with the ability to build functional demonstration or proof of concept applications.
• Strong understanding of geography, GIS concepts, and leading mapping platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present technical information clearly and persuasively to varied audiences.
• Strong business analysis or solution architecture experience, with the ability to move fluently from business problem to technology solution.
• High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and comfort meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Preferred:

• Diploma or degree in computer science, software engineering, geomatics, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Prior development experience with GIS software platforms in an enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting or presenting at marketing events, conferences, or partner workshops.
