We have an immediate need for a Literacy and Enrichment Coordinator   to join our team. We are looking for full-time employees to support School Age Child Care (SACC) programming. The annual compensation range for this on-site position is $52,500 - $63,000 . As a full-time role, the Literacy and Enrichment Coordinator position is eligible to participate in the organization's benefits program.

POSITION OVERVIEW (What we’re looking for )

As a member of the SACC department, the Literacy and Enrichment Coordinator plans, implements, and coordinates all components of the Literacy program for girls across Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn (GIBL). This role also oversees the library in the Lynn Center. The Literacy and Enrichment Coordinator  creates positive relationships and quality, hands-on enrichment activities for all members. Reporting to the Director of School Age Child Care (SACC), the Literacy and Enrichment Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating programming that develops the fundamental building blocks of literacy to enhance members’ academic and life success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES (What you'll be achieving)

At a minimum, the Literacy and Enrichment Coordinator will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:

• Lead the development of a creative, hands-on literacy curriculum with staff to augment programs.
• Identify girls with low reading scores and provide access to one-on-one tutoring. 
• Test all K-3 members with DIBELS Next at least three times annually.
• Find accessible book sources and provide numerous free book distributions. 
• Assist Girls Inc. National with coordinating trainings as needed. 
• Keep the Lynn Center library clean, organized, and replenished with a variety of books and materials.
• Organize a team of literacy volunteers and interns and collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator. 
• Train new staff and volunteers and assist with planning sessions as needed.
• Work with families of struggling readers to help them support their children to become capable readers.
• Create relationships with schools to gain accessibility to teachers and literacy coaches.
• Advise Teen Peer Educators in Literacy tutoring.
• Organize logistics of family literacy night.
• Assist the Director with Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) requirements and assessments.
• Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (What you’ll bring along)

Education: Bachelor degree in Education, Library Science, or another related field from an accredited university.  Eight (8) years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in education, facilitation, or youth work.

Qualifications: To be optimally successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Experience working with school-age youth representing diverse cultures, ethnicities, and abilities. 
• Possession of a valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required, along with a willingness to obtain a school pupil transport (7D) license. 
• Certified in First Aid and CPR. 
• Possession of strong group facilitation skills. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Exceptional organizational, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills. 
• Strong attention to detail. 
• Ability to problem solve and be flexible, imaginative, and innovative. 
• Capability to work the standard school-year school schedule (Monday – Friday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm), with occasional evening and weekend programs as required.

Computer/Technology Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applications to conduct day-to-day administrative tasks efficiently.
