Implement established treatment plans designed to support students’ IEP goals and educational participation. Assist students with gross motor skills, mobility, balance, strength, coordination, posture, positioning, and functional movement. Deliver physical therapy services in individual, group, classroom, and other school-based settings. Support students’ safe participation in classroom activities, physical education, transitions, transportation, and other school routines. Assist students with the safe and appropriate use of adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and positioning supports. Observe and document student performance, progress, participation, and response to interventions. Communicate student progress, concerns, and changes in functional performance to the supervising Physical Therapist. Collaborate with teachers, families, administrators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers as directed. Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings when requested and permitted by district policy and state regulations. Maintain accurate service logs, treatment notes, and other required documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Follow the supervising Physical Therapist’s plan of care and promptly report any need for reassessment or treatment-plan modification. Promote student independence, safety, and access to the educational environment and curriculum. Qualifications Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Active Massachusetts Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility to obtain licensure before the assignment begins. Successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants and any other applicable state requirements. Previous pediatric or school-based physical therapy experience is preferred. Experience implementing treatment plans and maintaining accurate service documentation is preferred. Knowledge of adaptive equipment, mobility supports, and educationally relevant physical therapy services is preferred. Ability to work effectively under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Ability to meet all district onboarding, background screening, and health requirements.
