Interventional Radiology (IR) - Independent Fellowship Position

The Interventional Radiology - Independent ACGME Accredited Fellowship has an opportunity for a qualified candidate to complete a two‑year fellowship position or one year fellowship position with ESIR training at UT Health San Antonio. The fellowship’s purpose is to train board‑certified or board‑eligible Diagnostic radiologists in image‑guided procedures, peri‑ and post‑procedural care of patients. An expert team of board‑certified IR faculty attendings provide education and training. University Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center, stroke center, and transplant center. Along with the Veteran’s Administration Hospital are the main training sites for the IR independent residency. The fellow’s exposure and training experience in San Antonio prepares them well to become top‑notch practicing independent IR radiologists. A fellow’s experience includes: Advanced training in imaging modalities, computed tomography, and digital subtraction angiography. State of the art imaging suites, which include ultrasound units and CT scan specifically for IR. Exposure to large patient’s pathology of arterial, venous and portal venous diseases. Biliary, GI, spinal, and GU procedures. The entire spectrum of the Interventional Oncology procedures including thermal ablation, chemo- and radio-embolization. Participation in didactic lectures, subspecialty focused conferences, and journal clubs. Educate by conducting resident and medical student lectures. Opportunities for research and publications.
