Position Overview The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides direct client care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment in outpatient behavioral health care. The PMHNP collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to improve the quality of care. Responsibilities Performs psychiatric diagnostic evaluations to determine diagnoses, treatment strategies, and care coordination needs for clients with mental health, substance use, or other psychiatric and medical needs. Provide psychiatric and medical services within standards and in conformance with applicable health licensing boards. Apply medical knowledge to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of illnesses. Maintain timely, complete, accurate, and legible medical records for all patients evaluated and treated by the PMHNP. Complete timely clinical/billing documentation meeting professional standards and regulatory requirements. Perform pharmacologic treatment strategies, order medications, monitor, and evaluate progress on psychiatric and other medications. Order, obtain, and assess laboratory tests and diagnostics; base clinical decisions on interpretation. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical services and coordinate care. Ensure timely access to care, maintain scheduling flexibility to meet client needs, and meet productivity standards. Collaborate with MD/DO for challenging cases and elevate to higher levels of care when necessary. Provide medication and health education including informed consent, benefits, risks, side effects, and alternatives; support health/wellness management and metabolic risk reduction. Conduct Telemedicine appointments for intake and follow-up encounters. Care coordination: communicate with clients/families/involved agencies/PCP and other providers to ensure timely and coordinated treatment planning and evaluation of progress. Maintain compliance with state laws and regulations for PMHNP, including supervised hours, CME, and timely assessments with the supervising physician. Other Duties Attend weekly supervisory meetings with the physician or as directed by the Chief Medical Officer. Support other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited nursing school; completion of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. At least one year of PMHNP experience preferred. Current licensure as a Practitioner with full and unrestricted licensure in the state of practice and an active DEA license. BLS from the American Heart Association required.
