Position: Night Shift

This position is for nights 7pm - 7am.

Duties and Responsibilities

65% of Time Spent

• Under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Manages the environment and crisis de-escalation incorporating the attributes of Careful Nursing.
• Identifies potential safety hazards
• Conducts searches and contraband removal.
• Initiates individual patient interactions (e.g., one-to ones).
• Coordinates goal setting with patients and significant others (e.g., families).
• Participates in multidisciplinary patient staffing (care conference) on a weekly basis.
• Applies restraints under the direction of a licensed professional
• Transports patients within the hospital as needed.
• Floats to all units as needed to provide observations for all behavioral health patients. Assure the safety of the patient and the environment
• Provides 1:1 support for high acuity patients

25% of Time Spent

• Provides direct patient care as required.

5% of Time Spent

• Facilitates therapeutic groups.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures that care is provided for all patients incorporating the attributes of Careful Nursing. 5% of Time

Carries out other duties related to patient care and unit operations as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge: High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Certification in crisis intervention training required. Minimal two (2) years' experience with mentally ill patients preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of crisis prevention techniques and methods. Knowledge of psychiatric illness and manifestations. Knowledge of patient's growth and development needs.

Abilities: Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients. Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties
