Special Education Teacher | Kenner, Louisiana

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment for the upcoming school year. This rewarding position begins on August 3, 2026, and runs through May 27, 2027, with a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week (seven hours daily, plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch). You’ll support an assigned caseload and collaborate with dedicated educators in a welcoming school community near Kenner, LA.

Key Qualifications:

Active Louisiana Department of Education teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement (Required)
Recent, verifiable experience as a Special Education Teacher
Thorough familiarity with K-12 special education practices
Preparedness for immediate placement (Louisiana certification must be current; not accepting TAT/TA credentials)
Pass a district-required drug screen and fingerprint background check (in addition to standard credentialing)

Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction and accommodations according to student IEPs
Monitor, assess, and document academic and developmental progress
Develop and implement creative lesson plans tailored to diverse learning needs
Work collaboratively with support staff, administrators, and parents/guardians
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district standards for special education
