POSITION SUMMARY The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring the company remains profitable and competitive in the market. This role requires strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of estimating software, and the ability to collaborate closely with project managers, stakeholders, and vendors to gather project requirements and refine cost projections. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE Estimates are consistently accurate, competitive, and completed ahead of deadlines, resulting in a strong bid-win rate and predictable project profitability. Bids include clear, detailed scopes, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation that enable Project Managers and leadership to make timely, confident decisions. Vendor, subcontractor, and supplier relationships are strong and reliable, producing accurate pricing, dependable quotes, and improved cost efficiencies across projects. Estimating processes become more efficient and standardized through refined workflows, improved use of software (BuildOps, Bluebeam), and proactive identification of cost‑saving opportunities. OBJECTIVES Consistently meet or surpass monthly and quarterly sales quotas to drive revenue growth. Ensure at least one in four leads results in a closed sale through effective prospecting and engagement. Identify, contact, and qualify high‑potential prospects through various sales channels. Foster long‑term customer relationships that lead to repeat business and referrals. Clearly communicate product/service value propositions to potential clients. Successfully negotiate contract terms and close sales with a high success rate. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status using CRM software. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through proactive follow‑ups and excellent service. Identify opportunities to upsell additional services or cross‑sell related products to maximize revenue per client. Ensure all leads and customer inquiries are responded to within 24 hours to maintain engagement. Track KPIs and sales metrics to refine strategies and optimize performance. Work closely with internal teams to align sales efforts with overall business goals. COMPETENCIES Ensure all cost estimates are precise and account for materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing. Complete and submit competitive bids on time to maximize project acquisition opportunities. Successfully secure at least 30% of submitted bids, ensuring sustainable business growth. Provide comprehensive breakdowns of costs, including materials, labor, subcontractors, and potential contingencies. Implement best practices and refine estimating methodologies to improve efficiency and accuracy. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to ensure pricing strategies remain competitive while maintaining profitability. Keep accurate records of material costs, labor rates, subcontractor pricing, and industry benchmarks. Work closely with internal teams to gather project specifications, ensuring estimates align with project goals. Analyze estimates to find ways to reduce project costs without compromising quality. Align all estimates with legal, regulatory, and safety standards to ensure project viability. Utilize and optimize estimating tools such as Bluebeam and BuildOps to enhance accuracy and workflow. Offer data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership on bidding strategies and pricing trends. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Plumbing experience or equivalent education required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods, including frequent typing and screen use. Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 20 lbs).
