Line Cook

Full-time Line CookMeriwether Godsey is looking for a Full-time Line Cook responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of daily meals and special events at Guilford College, located in Greensboro, North Carolina.Must be available to work as follows: Rotating shifts to include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.What you will do:Participate in the preparation, cooking, and portioning of large quantities of meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, cereals, soups, sauces, fruits, bread, desserts, and other food itemsPrepare items in batches as close to serving time as possible to ensure quality and limit over-production, using good judgment in timing to ensure service without interruptionFollow recipes and recommend changes in recipes and cooking methods to improve products and ensure the highest quality food preparation and presentationCook, maintain, and store all foods at the required temperaturesTake and record temperatures, following all required food handling and sanitation standards to ensure food safetyMaintain accurate records of production amounts, attendance & leftover amounts to assist in efficient forecasting informationAssist with the organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and storerooms: all items covered, labeled, and datedAttend production meetings daily, offering input concerning leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.Perform all duties in accordance with food safety and sanitation best practicesOther duties, as assignedWhat you need:High School diploma or equivalentPrior experience as a large-scale restaurant line and/or contract dining cook (2-4 years preferred)ServSafe® Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employmentExperience with high-volume food service operations, preferably in school environmentsAbility to measure products and convert units of measureHigh levels of professionalism, strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsFlexibility: ability to switch between locations and job dutiesGrowing knowledge of sustainable practicesWhat you will get:Competitive Pay, Uniforms, Meals, Training and Mentorship, and Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, etc.)Meriwether Godsey offers significant opportunities for growth and career advancement.
