Safety Officer

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer to champion safety and compliance across our construction sites in the Parkersburg, Morgantown, north-central WV area. In this vital role, you will oversee safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to occupational health standards. Your expertise will help foster a safe working environment, minimize hazards, and promote a culture of safety excellence throughout all phases of construction projects. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety programs aligned with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and industry best practices. Manage risk assessments and mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and injuries on construction sites. Lead safety training sessions for new hires and ongoing education for staff on construction management software features related to safety tracking. Investigate incidents, accidents, or near-misses thoroughly, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions. Coordinate with project managers to ensure construction management processes prioritize occupational health and environmental health & safety (EHS). Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, workers' compensation claims, and compliance documentation. Skills Strong knowledge of risk management principles and OSHA regulations specific to construction environments. Experience in occupational health practices within the construction industry. Ability to manage compliance with multiple safety standards including OSHA and local legal requirements. Excellent communication skills for conducting training sessions and safety briefings effectively. Demonstrated ability to manage construction site safety programs from planning through execution.
