Financial Specialist This Financial Specialist position is located at John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If selected for this position, you will serve as a Financial Specialist at a large airport or at a hub operation providing administrative support within Security Operations (SO), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties may include but are not limited to: Performing a variety of financial management operations to support TSA Operations at the airport and spokes, to include budget formulation, execution, oversight, and management of travel and acquisitions activity; and monitoring and ensuring compliance of budget and financial activities with all DHS/TSA policies and guidelines. Serving as a subject matter expert and team leader for projects involving complex business and financial disciplines, such as finance, accounting, budget, cost-analysis, and various management functions. Providing authoritative policy interpretations on a wide range of financial management issues and developing unprecedented solutions to critical financial management issues. Obtaining the cooperation of multiple customers who may initially be reluctant or resistant to reprogramming or transfer of funds amount multiple large budgets needed to address critical emerging tactical and strategic funding priorities. Other duties may include: Providing advice and guidance to more junior specialists, professionals, managers, employees, and external representatives to resolve problems not always susceptible to treatment by standard methods. Serving as a troubleshooter and data researcher for all budgetary and financial problems and issues. Identifying and proposing solutions to complex problems where previous studies and established techniques require modification and adaptation. Preparing budget estimates and consolidating the estimates into an integrated budget forecast. Providing budget justifications by compiling, comparing, and correlating information about current and future programs. Conducting financial reconciliation and record auditing.
