Provides technical expertise and manual skills in the installation, inspection, servicing, and repair of the district's electrical systems. Maintains high standards to ensure that a safe and orderly environment is maintained for educational and recreational activities. Uses each contact with the public as an opportunity to promote a positive impression of the school district.

Under the direction of the maintenance supervisor: provides instructions and communicates expectations to assigned substitutes, seasonal/temporary employees, and job trainees. Working Conditions:

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Post-secondary technical/trade school graduate is preferred.
- Completion of a formal apprentice training program and license are required.
- Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
- Provides documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
- Multi-school or closely related building maintenance experience is required.
- Ability to interpret and apply blueprint and schematic diagram information.
- Ability to comply with building codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility guidelines.
- Ability to comply with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Public Employer Risk Reduction Act (PERRA) regulations.
- Knowledge of microelectronics and HVAC control systems.
- Proficient in preventive maintenance procedures for electrical systems.

- Performs all responsibilities and essential functions of maintenance worker I as directed (i.e., File 602).
- Maintains work order files. Establishes priorities. Avoids disrupting classroom activities except during emergencies. Consults privately with building staff. Keeps current with assigned projects and required reports.
- Monitors electrical equipment. Locates and corrects malfunctions and/or unsafe conditions. Carries out preventive maintenance activities. Replaces circuit breakers, fuses, switches, and other electrical components. Cleans filters and lubricates moving parts.
- Installs equipment, fixtures, circuits, wiring, cables, and other electrical components as directed. Tests circuits to ensure proper connections.
- Regularly advises the maintenance supervisor about work progress, completed projects, and emerging building issues.
- Maintains an inventory of essential electrical supplies.
- Helps with the receipt of deliveries. Unloads trucks. Inspects packages for damage. Verifies quantities. Organize and stores supplies.
- Anticipates and is prepared for fire and safety inspections. Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work areas. Escorts inspectors on tours as directed.
- Complies with MSDS, AHERA, EPA, OSHA, PERRA regulations. Organizes and safely stores all supplies, materials, and equipment. Labels all hazardous materials.
- Helps the maintenance supervisor develop short- and long-range maintenance plans for electrical systems.
- Helps prepare competitive bid specifications. Helps evaluate work performed by outside electrical contractors.
- Ensures that all renovations conform to applicable building codes. Consults with the maintenance supervisor to ensure compliance with ADA accessibility standards.
- Helps custodians and maintenance staff as directed to address unexpected circumstances and/or pressing district needs.
- Helps coach new and temporary employees the proper precautions to prevent injuries when working with or around electrical systems.
- Immediately reports all accidents. Follows prescribed first aid policies and procedures. Promptly documents all accidents and injuries that require a medical referral. Implements recommended preventive safety measures.
- Picks up and delivers equipment, materials, and other supplies as directed.
- Immediately reports all traffic citations incurred during the performance of assigned duties to the maintenance supervisor.
- Keeps current with advances in electrical and equipment technology. Shares knowledge and skill with appropriate staff.
- Helps prepare and maintain equipment inventories as directed.
- Recommends procedures and equipment that enhance safety, contribute to effective building operations, improve productivity, and conserve district resources.
- Performs regular inspections of all safety equipment (e.g., equipment guards, ground fault protectors, alarm systems, signage, emergency lights, etc.).
- Acts responsibly to protect district equipment and property. Takes appropriate action during emergencies and/or adverse weather conditions (e.g., closes windows, resets fire alarms, secures the building, turns off utility services, etc.).
- Makes reasonable provisions to respond to building emergencies at any hour when requested by the superintendent, building principal, or maintenance supervisor.
- Strives to develop rapport with students, staff , parents, and the public. Responds to requests and complaints promptly and tactfully. Offers and accepts constructive suggestions diplomatically. Respects the personal confidences and privacy needs of individuals.
- Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, or other related concerns to the maintenance supervisor and/or building principal.
- Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
- Promotes a positive image of the maintenance department. Maintains a clean neat appearance and wears appropriate work attire.
- Participates in staff meetings and professional growth activities as directed.
- Serves as a role model for students. Demonstrates personal integrity, responsibility, impartiality, respect, and courtesy.
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
- Demonstrates professionalism and exemplary personal conduct.
- Uses interpersonal skills to promote a favorable image of the school district.
- Works cooperatively to support a successful team effort.

- Measures and computes mathematical formulas to calibrate equipment, mix chemicals, determine quantities, etc.
- Walks and/or stands for extended periods.
- Performs strenuous physical activities.
- Lifts, carries, and/or moves maintenance supplies and equipment. Helps others with heavy objects. Reaches and lifts overhead items.
- Climbs and works from a ladder, scaffold, platform, or other equipment that requires balancing skills.
- Works in confined spaces such as a crawl space, catwalk, or other areas that limit movement.
- Performs activities that require stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching.
- Discerns sound variances in equipment and color differences in wiring.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
