Purchasing Specialist

Position Summary Looking for candidates that will be responsible for leading the Purchasing activities for sourcing, supplier selection and order placement. USMCA management. Essential Functions Corporate Adheres to the Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain (HTGP) and procedures Learns, demonstrates and upholds HTGP Core Values Complies with all HTGP Certification standards; Management System (IATF16949), Environmental ISO 14001/ VDA6.3 and Health and Safety OHSAS 18001 policies and procedures Treats all HTGP team members with respect and professional courtesy Always strives to maintain a positive work environment Manages the department budget efficiently as per the approved annual budget Performs additional assignments / duties as required by management EHS Adheres to all safety policies and procedures Complies with all safety policies and 5S clean philosophy to maintain a safe, clean working environment Consistently meets company safety goals Technical Perform key duties in a plant including EO/4M Changes Management, Parts Development, Suppliers’ Quality Issue, New Project Development process management and any other issues regarding Supply Chain Issues Responsibility includes managing all the above for Development through Mass Production Stage Source and procure materials that meet specifications and schedules in the most cost-effective manner, considering price, schedule and delivery as well as past supplier performance and quality. Check Cost information for parts change (Investment Cost, Increase/Decrease of unit price, etc.) if necessary Collect and evaluate countermeasures regarding suppliers’ parts quality issue if necessary Establish KPI and manage Purchasing/Procurement organization A comprehensive understanding of USMCA and the overall tariff framework is required. Negotiate terms and conditions including material price with suppliers for New Projects Bidding and supplier nomination, Signing of purchasing contract Analyze parts quality issue, productivity improvement, part supply issue, cost reduction, parts localization and customers’ request etc Analysis forecast and figure out potential risk of Suppliers’ part shortage issue in advance Communicate with all group leaders and team members concerning new projects Additional duties as assigned Leadership Documents all activities in a timely manner Works well with others and promote a positive team-orientated work environment Demonstrates an active understanding of policies Promotes Department goals by supporting department objectives towards continuous improvement Maintain confidentiality Education High School/GED 4 Year Bachelor Degree or comparable background of work related experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Economics or Finance Reporting Reports to: Purchasing Assistant Manager or designee Direct Reports: 0 Competency Requirements Communicates critical issues to Team Leader, Group Leader, Asst. Manager or Manager in a timely manner; cooperate in creating a positive work environment; gives input to achieve improvements with Leadership; works to meet unit/department goals; work with Leadership (as assigned) to develop and implement countermeasures to eliminate root cause and prevent problem recurrence; provide data as needed.
