Head Start / UPK Classroom Aide (Fairgrieve Elementary) Full-Time – 37.5 hours per week / 42 weeks per year Grade 11 Pay Range: $16.00 - $21.01 Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Location: Fairgrieve Elementary, Fulton, NY 13069, USA Job Summary Assists with ensuring a safe environment for children in all aspects of the classroom and related activities. Interacts with children, provides supervision and assists with daily activities and routine center operations. Follows all program regulations and agency policies and procedures. Job Duties and Responsibilities Supervise children at all times and during the absence of teachers. Provide a pleasant meal time atmosphere and model appropriate table manners. Complete documentation (attendance, incident reports) in compliance with regulations. Adapt well to changes in classroom routine and new situations. Participate in a team approach to Early Childhood Education with other staff. Perform related duties to assist with the smooth operation of the classroom. Participate in required professional development trainings and meetings. Oversee tooth brushing and ensure proper hygiene and sanitation. Record observations using High/Scope or Creative Curriculum techniques. Lead a small group when assigned. Assist with all classroom activities. Implement recommendations of supervisors. Assist with general center maintenance, including daily cleaning and sanitation. Job Requirements Must have the desire to work with low income children and families. Must be able to work well with pre-schoolers and their parents. Work well in a team-teaching atmosphere. Exhibit good judgment, be organized, flexible, and possess professional attitude. Serve as a positive role model for children and parents. Have good communication skills and follow oral and written directions. Have acceptable physical and mental health to carry out job responsibilities, including lifting and participating in activities with children. Hold current CPR and First Aid certifications. Attend Head Start sponsored trainings and meetings as requested. Complete and maintain required training in specific topic areas; minimum 30 hours over two years. Maintain confidentiality.
