Pay - $30/hr. - $35/hr. Position Responsibilities (Duties)
- Perform medical coding in an acute care hospital setting
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and ICD-9-CM codes using encoder tools
- Apply coding guidelines, payer requirements, and federal billing regulations
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Research and resolve coding-related issues and discrepancies
- Provide support in coder training and quality improvement activities
- Utilize 3M / HDS coding applications for coding and reimbursement
- Perform Outpatient and Emergency Department (ED) coding
- Minimum 3 years of coding experience (4+ years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards
- ED coding experience is mandatory
- Solid Outpatient coding experience required
- Strong Inpatient coding background preferred
- Proficient in EPIC EMR and 3M coding systems
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently with minimal training
- High School Diploma/GED, AHIMA, RHIA or RHIT and/or CCP, CCS
- Role will begin onsite for 1-2 weeks of training (flexible based on Hiring Manager discretion)
- Position will transition to fully remote once responsibilities are mastered
