Accountant

Sussex Conservation District is hiring an Accountant for stable, meaningful work protecting the soil, water, and natural resources of Sussex County — with a State of Delaware pension , predictable weekday hours, and a collegial team where your work is visible and valued. What you'll do Own the books: general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations Process payroll and payroll tax filings Manage grant and federal program accounting and compliance Own month-end and year-end close and audit preparation for the annual audit Keep clean, audit-ready records in our accounting system (Sage) What we're looking for At least four years of accounting experience Payroll and payroll tax experience Experience with Sage or a similar accounting system (QuickBooks and others welcome) Government, nonprofit, or federal grant accounting experience strongly preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field CPA or CGFM a plus — not required Health, dental, and vision insurance with employer contribution State of Delaware pension plan and 401(k) with employer match Life insurance and short-term/long-term disability coverage Generous paid time off and holidays Sussex Conservation District is an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr Sussex Conservation District
