Anesthesia Veterinary Technician

The Anesthesia Department provides advanced anesthetic support to a varied patient population across the hospital campus, including small, large, and exotic species. This role requires advanced veterinary medical knowledge, strong time-management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, teaching-focused clinical environment. The position collaborates closely with specialty services, clinicians, staff, and students to coordinate and deliver high-quality anesthetic and perioperative care. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, administration of complex anesthetic and medical treatments, continuous monitoring during diagnostic and surgical procedures, post-operative recovery, and strict adherence to infectious disease and safety protocols. This role also supports hospital operations through documentation, workflow coordination, and the training and mentoring of learners and new staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education: Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional Training, Certifications, or Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting; preferably at a teaching hospital. Desire to teach 4th year veterinary students. Strong ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally, even in emotionally challenging situations, while delivering excellent client service. Collaborative team member who actively contributes to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and provide high-quality patient care, seeking support when needed.

Required License or Certification: Licensed/Registered/Certified by any state Graduation from an AVMA fully accredited two- or four-year Veterinary Technician program

Salary Range: $ 39,000 - $ 77,109
