Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop comprehensive treatment plans for companion animals in emergency and urgent care scenarios.

• Manage an active emergency caseload averaging 10 to 20 patients per 12-hour shift.

• Perform essential emergency and soft tissue surgical procedures.

• Oversee critical care cases for hospitalized patients and handle follow-up outpatient care.

• Communicate clearly, empathetically, and effectively with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment paths, and updates.

• Partner closely with veterinary technicians and support staff to maintain a seamless, high-functioning floor.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.

• Licensure: Active Veterinary License in the state of Idaho (or the ability to obtain one prior to your start date).

• Experience: Previous experience in emergency medicine, major/minor soft tissue surgery, or critical care is preferred but not required. New graduates are highly encouraged to apply! We are happy to provide structured training and mentorship for motivated candidates.

Schedule & Patient Population

• The Schedule: Full-time hours working 12-hour rotating shifts (which include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holiday rotations).

• The Patients: You will treat almost exclusively companion animals (dogs and cats). There is occasional, very minor exposure to exotics (e.g., local zoo coordination or end-of-life care).
