Operations Manager

Overview DSV - Global Transport and Logistics seeks a Senior Operation Manager to lead day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping in alignment with company service and cost objectives. Position Summary Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day site operations, including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping; planning inbound and outbound volume; customer communications; space and equipment management; and people management including hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals, and issue resolution. As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality and to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies and procedures. Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals and comply with client SLAs. Drive continuous improvement and provide ideas for more efficient operations and ongoing cost savings. Meet client-specified KPIs and comply with Quality system requirements. Manage operations to achieve prescribed objectives; apply effective communication and motivational techniques; supervise fairly; counsel when needed. Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, training, and professional development; participate in performance evaluation processes for promotions and wage decisions. Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time. Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations. Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders and customer instructions; assess priorities and assign duties to warehouse staff. Review volume demand to plan warehouse space and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing as needed. Ensure effective training delivery and adherence to SOPs (DSV and client). Assess progress of trainees to determine hire performance and cultural fit. Maintain motivation to provide high levels of customer satisfaction. Provide growth and development opportunities for team members. Support adherence to SOPs and conduct routine staff meetings to review activities. Ensure team members are trained on information systems (including WMS) to meet objectives and operate efficiently; ensure software/hardware purchases follow IT policies. Remain knowledgeable about changes in hardware and software technology; develop proficiency in client systems. Manage high-level customer service standards and ensure client accounts receive operational and administrative support; maintain regular client communication; attend or lead meetings with key customers. Coordinate supplier/customer visits and promote a positive relationship with clients. Participate in budgeting: support annual operating budget development and manage controls to meet service levels and financial goals. Ensure compliance with contract guidelines in budgeting and pricing activities. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred. 7 years of experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment. 5 years of supervisory experience. Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures; seasonal variations may occur. Skills and Abilities Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Proficiency in knowledge of applicable WMS systems. Language Skills English (reading, writing, verbal); proficient in business communication at all levels. Other Strong attention to detail; accuracy and timely task completion. Good organizational, personnel, and communication skills. Leadership, supervision, and planning abilities. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required. Cross-training opportunities to enhance knowledge across areas/departments. Adaptability to a fast-paced environment. Salary and Benefits For this position, the expected base pay range is $100,000.00 – $145,000.00. Compensation depends on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, in accordance with law and policy. Benefits details and eligibility vary by location and division.
