QA/QC Tech II

Quality Tech IIThe Quality Tech II will be responsible for inspection of machined parts for MS Directional machine shop, repair & maintenance, quality control, and engineering departments. The Quality Tech II will then issue the inspection report and supporting quality notice and/or reports if applicable. This will include identifying non-conformities and Quality Notices. Reporting to the Quality Control Department, this role must be passionate about quality assurance of all duties performed.The Quality Tech II works under the direction of the Quality Manager.Detailed Description:Trouble shoot and diagnose the problem of equipment brought to the maintenance shopPerform detailed inspections on tools, assemblies, and equipment with minimal supervisionUse advanced measuring equipment confidentlyReads, interprets, writes, and complies with technical data including Service Instructions, Bulletins and other applicable documents as directed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or MSD tool instructionsTrain and mentor entry-level Quality TechniciansCommunicate effectively with production, maintenance, and engineering teamsPerform additional duties as assigned by QC supervisors or management with minimal supervisionQuality control of parts to determine whether they need to be repaired or replacedList parts to be replaced referring to the manufacturer's manuals and diagramsOperates devices to comply with test requirements and to perform data acquisition and analysis using testing equipment including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, etcDocument inspections, test results, repair work done and parts replaced for proper billing and record upkeepEnsure the yard and shop spaces are clean and organizedEnsure that all equipment is clean and in good working orderSafely operate forklift to move equipment around the yardParticipate in all required meetings, training and development activitiesAbility to communicate, including ability to read, write, and speak English and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in EnglishJob Requirements:Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled toolsAbility to safely navigate the yard and shop work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)Ability to operate heavy equipmentLift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfacesBend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areasDemonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills including ability to promptly give, and follow, directions when working with others and ability to interact productively with coworkers and third partiesBasic computer skills in Microsoft OfficeWear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated timesWilling to be on call after hours, work extended schedules, including extra days, occasional nights, weekends and holidays.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentProficient in two of the three QC functions: (1) lower end process, (2) power section process, and (3) Inbound/Fix bend process, OR 18+ months experience in MSD Motor Shop QA/QC or Quality Tech position, OR 3+ years of external QA/QC/Motor Shop experiencePreferred QualificationsQuality control experience with vector gauges and RA meter and other measurement equipmentKnowledge of API and TH Hill industry standards.Certified Mechanical Inspector, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.Ability to work independently while adhering to expected deadline schedules.Additional Details:The QA/QC - Motor Shop Technician must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop and yard which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
