Research Specialist II

Overview Provide an excellent and technically‑demanding Clinical and Translational Research Laboratory skills in a careful and independent manner for the Clinical Research Core Laboratory. The personnel assists and works closely with the Laboratory Director for overall operations and functions of the laboratory. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related field Minimum 3 years research/clinical/laboratory related experience Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies Ability to work efficiently and to perform properly controlled molecular tests Strong organization abilities and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in research or clinical laboratory environment preferred; experience in use of computer database applications desired Strong molecular and cell biology background and experience with molecular techniques such as DNA and RNA isolations, PCR, immunoassays and infectious disease related methodologies Special Required Ability for Incidents with Animal Exposure Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis. Background, Physical, and Drug Screening Requirements Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
