Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med/Surg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg/Telemetry RN experience preferred License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - General Med/Tele skillset - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - PIV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management - PCA pumps Medication gtt management Description: The position is for a Med/Surg/Tele Registered Nurse. The facility has 874 licensed beds and is a level I trauma teaching hospital. The primary focus is to decompress the ED and other specialty areas. Common diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA. Patient ratios vary by unit, typically 1:4 to 1:6. CNA support is available to complete vital signs, blood sugars, and provide hygiene care. The department includes resource nurses available for support. Telemetry monitoring is managed by the team of nurses, and the primary nurse completes an interpretation each shift. This position may require floating within the region and scope of practice. Weekend rotation is required every other week, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. RTO can be approved up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. The department culture emphasizes teamwork and support, fostering a family-like environment.
