Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 10 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Patient ratio experience of 2/3 - Charting system experience required, specifically with the name Epic - Travel experience required Description: This position involves working in a critical care environment. The nurse will have a patient ratio of 1:2. The unit consists of 10 beds. The facility provides care to adult and geriatric patients. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The daily census includes approximately 8 patients. The role requires skills in managing and caring for ventilated patients, arterial line management, and administration of blood products. The nurse will perform procedures such as central line management, chest tube care, and pulmonary artery line monitoring. In addition, the nurse will be responsible for interpreting arterial blood gases and managing dysrhythmias. Patient care may involve handling acute and chronic renal failure, as well as multi-system organ dysfunction. The nurse will also assist in pre/post cardiac catheterization interventions and provide procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Compliance with infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions is mandatory. Skills in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, as well as suctioning, are also required.
