Hatch is seeking a dynamic Junior Mining Engineer . Reporting to the Metals group, you will support offices globally working from our Salt Lake City, UT office location.

Qualifications:

• Roles at this level are filled by recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills
• Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mining, or a relevant field
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Carry out calculations, simulations and verifications related to mine design, which may include materials handling, ventilation, stopping and production plans, shaft and hoisting systems, etc.
• Develop mine design for Clients utilizing design software to suit the Client’s needs
• Reviewing and commenting on Contractor drawings, reports, and documents
• Guide the Contractor in carrying out detailed engineering and purchasing activities in matters related to mining engineering
• Participate in equipment sizing and communication with Vendors to ensure that equipment selected meets requirements
• Work with a project team, including development of layouts, assistance with mechanical and electrical equipment selection, and development of operating philosophies
• Execute technical bid evaluations for equipment and making recommendations for purchase
• Interact with other mining engineers in the organization to ensure that technology is shared effectively
• Generate operating manuals, plant startups, and commissioning where required

You bring to the role:

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, enthusiasm, initiative, writing skills, solid academic achievement, and commitment
• Previous mining-related student experience is an asset
• Previous mining-related software exposure is an asset
• Previous co-op experience is considered an asset
• Willingness to spend time in both office and field environments

• Perform assignments related to your sector
• Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
• Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
• Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
• Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
