Emergency Radiologist — UTMB Department of Radiology High-Impact Work. An Exceptional Schedule. A Community Worth Coming Home To. The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Department of Radiology invites applications for a full-time Emergency Radiologist to provide overnight imaging interpretation across our growing Gulf Coast multi-campus health system. This is an outstanding opportunity for a radiologist who values clinical excellence, schedule predictability, and the stability and academic richness of a distinguished academic medical center. Position Overview: Schedule: 7 on / 14 off, 10pm – 7am – a structured overnight schedule providing two full weeks off for every week worked, with no competing daytime obligations Compensation: $550,000 base salary, competitive with the top tier of academic and private emergency radiology practices in Texas Employment Type: Full-time, on-site The Practice: This position offers a high-acuity, high-volume case mix spanning the full spectrum of emergency imaging — including trauma, stroke, acute vascular, and complex multi-system presentations — across four UTMB campuses: Galveston — UTMB's flagship academic medical center League City — the hub of UTMB's rapidly growing mainland practice Clear Lake — a thriving community campus in the heart of the NASA corridor Angleton Danbury — serving the broader Brazoria County community Imaging modalities include radiography, CT, MRI, and ultrasound across multiple subspecialties, supported by modern technology and a fully integrated academic radiology infrastructure. Why UTMB: UTMB is one of Texas's oldest and most distinguished academic medical centers, with a mission spanning clinical excellence, research, and the education of the next generation of physicians. The Department of Radiology trains 8 diagnostic radiology residents per year and hosts multiple subspecialty fellowship programs. Emergency radiologists at UTMB have meaningful opportunities to teach and mentor residents and fellows—contributing directly to the academic mission through case-based instruction, readout participation, and educational engagement—without the administrative burden of a formal teaching role. You will be supported by subspecialty colleagues, advanced clinical technology, and an institution with the depth and infrastructure of a true academic medical center. Minimum Qualifications: MD or DO degree Board Certification or Eligibility by the American Board of Radiology Valid Texas Medical License, or ability to obtain Eligibility for appointment with the UTMB hospital medical staff Authorization to work in the United States The Community: UTMB's campuses sit at the heart of one of Texas's most distinctive and desirable coastal regions. Galveston offers a historic island lifestyle with beautiful beaches, a vibrant culinary and arts scene, and a storied medical heritage. League City and Clear Lake, home of Johnson Space Center–NASA, provide outstanding suburban living with top-rated schools, a thriving local economy, and seamless access to the Houston metropolitan area and its world-class amenities. Whether you are drawn to island living, suburban comfort, or metropolitan energy, this region has something exceptional to offer.
