Senior Project Manager

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support a growing portfolio of industrial, manufacturing, R&D, laboratory, and commercial construction projects based out of Austin, TX.

This position will manage multiple projects simultaneously, with individual project values generally ranging from approximately $500,000 to $2.5 million . Project scopes may include clean rooms, R&D spaces, breakrooms, restrooms, office renovations, manufacturing environments, and other technically complex facility projects.

The Senior Project Manager will serve as a key client-facing representative and will work closely with internal project teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the client's quality expectations.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong general industrial project management background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide a high-touch, white-glove level of client service.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple active construction and facility projects from planning and design through construction, closeout, and turnover.
• Oversee projects generally ranging from $500K to $2.5M in value.
• Manage projects involving manufacturing, R&D, laboratory, clean room, office, restroom, breakroom, and other facility environments.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, and professional service.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project management teams.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, scopes, risks, change orders, and overall project performance.
• Review project documentation, drawings, proposals, schedules, and cost information.
• Facilitate project meetings and provide clear status updates to clients and project stakeholders.
• Monitor contractor performance, construction progress, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
• Support projects involving hazardous materials, gas systems, and specialized occupancy requirements where applicable.
• Assist with projects requiring knowledge of H-3, H-4, H-5, or similar high-hazard occupancy classifications .
• Support stormwater, wastewater, and other environmental or facility infrastructure considerations as required.
• Provide executive-level oversight and coordination for additional projects located throughout the United States.
• Travel approximately 20-25% nationally to project sites and client locations.
• Collaborate with other project managers and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent project delivery standards.

Ramp-Up Expectations

The successful candidate will be expected to quickly integrate into the project team and become comfortable operating independently.

Typical ramp-up expectations include:

• Initial period focused on understanding client expectations, processes, project teams, and active scopes.
• Begin independently managing projects within approximately 60 days .
• Reach full productivity and ownership of assigned projects within approximately 90 days .

Because the position involves limited formal client-side training, candidates should be comfortable learning existing processes quickly and taking ownership of projects with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of project management experience , preferably within construction, industrial facilities, manufacturing, engineering, or a related environment.
• Proven experience managing projects from initial planning through completion.
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong understanding of project schedules, budgets, scopes, contractor management, and construction processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong client-facing and relationship management abilities.
• Ability to provide professional, high-touch, white-glove client service.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision or formal training.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and internal project teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel nationally approximately 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• General industrial or manufacturing project management background.
• Experience managing projects within R&D, clean room, laboratory, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or technology environments .
• Experience with projects involving hazardous materials or specialty gas systems.
• Knowledge of H-occupancy classifications, including H-3, H-4, and H-5 environments.
• Familiarity with stormwater, wastewater, or industrial utility infrastructure.
• Experience managing projects valued between approximately $500K and $2.5M.
• Experience providing oversight across projects located in multiple states or regions.
