Your role and responsibilities:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and executing quality assurance activities across product, process and manufacturing operations to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. This role ensures compliance with internal and external quality standards while improving performance metrics such as first-pass yield, defect rates, and cost of poor quality.

The position supports quality activities across winding, assembly, and machining operations, partnering closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain to resolve complex problems, reduce variation and improve overall product quality and reliability.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Lead continuous improvement of product and process quality across winding, assembly, and machining operations, driving key metrics such as FPY, RTY, DPPM, scrap, rework, and warranty performance
  • Own resolution of customer and internal quality issues by applying structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, DMAIC) and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure ISO compliance, audit readiness, and robust documentation including control plans, inspection criteria, and standards
  • Partner cross-functionally with production and suppliers to improve process capability, standardize work, analyze quality data, and deploy best practices using statistical tools and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or operational excellence within a manufacturing environment - Required.
  • Strong knowledge of core quality tools and methodologies, including 8D, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, with the ability to lead data-driven continuous improvement efforts
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data trending (e.g., Minitab) and ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent Quality Management Systems, including audit readiness and compliance practices
  • Preferred Experience Includes: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification - Experience with machining, assembly, or electromechanical manufacturing processes - ISO auditor experience or QMS ownership - Project management experience or PMP certification
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
