Retail Salesperson

The Inspired Starfish is a mission-driven thrift store selling gently loved furniture, home goods, books, décor, and more. All proceeds support Foster Alumni Mentors, a local nonprofit that builds community and provides support for individuals who experienced foster or kinship care. Position Summary The Retail Sales Associate supports customer service, sales, donations, merchandising, online listings, pricing, and daily store operations. We are looking for someone who is outgoing, friendly, organized, dependable, motivated, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a busy retail environment. Responsibilities Greet customers and create a warm, welcoming shopping experience Assist customers with questions, purchases, and loading items when needed Share the mission of The Inspired Starfish and Foster Alumni Mentors with customers and donors Process sales accurately using the POS system Handle cash, credit cards, and other payments responsibly Accept, sort, clean, price, and organize donations Thank donors and explain how their donations support the mission Research pricing for donated items, including unique, vintage, or higher-value items Photograph and list items online through Facebook Marketplace, social media, or other selling platforms Help merchandise and restock the sales floor so the store looks clean, organized, and inviting Assist with opening and closing procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Work well with staff, volunteers, and interns Communicate with management about inventory, customer feedback, donations, and store needs Attend training or staff meetings as needed Qualifications Retail or customer service experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right person Friendly, dependable, and comfortable talking with customers and donors Strong communication and basic computer skills Willingness to learn POS systems, social media selling, and online sales platforms Ability to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout a shift Able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds with help when needed Reliable transportation to and from the store Weekend availability required Genuine interest in supporting the mission of Foster Alumni Mentors What We Offer A positive, supportive, and mission-driven work environment The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals who experienced foster or kinship care Experience in retail, merchandising, donations, online sales, and social enterprise work The chance to be part of a growing community-focused store in Grand Junction #J-18808-Ljbffr Foster Alumni Mentors
