Lead Area Health Information Specialist

Area Lead Health Information Specialist Position: Area Lead Health Information Specialist — Nashville, TN — Full-time regular. Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. Responsibilities Process all release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. Safeguard and protect patient privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to medical information and that all releases comply with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. Travel 75% or more of the time across the Health System’s main campus and regional hospitals in the Green Hills Nashville, TN area; Lebanon, TN; Tullahoma, TN; Clarksville, TN. Lead daily team huddles, train new staff, and provide shadowing support to promote efficient workflow and high‑quality service. Document information in multiple platforms using two computer monitors. Use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) for record management. Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information. Adhere to company and facility policies, including the Code of Conduct. Inform manager of work site difficulties and fluctuating volumes. Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as required. Manage patient health records and safeguard compliance with HIPAA standards. Prepare new patient charts, gather documents, and assemble medical records in standard order. Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical record storage. Respond to requests for patient records within and outside the facility, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately. Handle inbound/outbound calls and assist with patient walk‑ins. Perform administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, data entry, scheduling pick‑ups, and training associates in the HIS positions. Generate reports for manager or facility as directed. Exceed level 1 productivity expectations as outlined at specific sites. Participate in project teams, committees, and training initiatives to advance operational strategies. Mentor HIS staff and assist with onboarding and quality assurance tasks. Lead training sessions for staff development. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills Knowledge of ROI and HIPAA Compliance. Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems (EPIC and Cerner preferred). Document Review and Redaction. Attention to Detail and Accuracy. Time Management and Prioritization. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to travel local/regionally 75% or more of the time. Basic computer proficiency with office equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong data entry skills. Minimum 1 year Health Information Management experience. Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required. Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant medical record information. Experience with Microsoft Office, two monitors, and general office equipment. Capacity to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities.
