Security Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Security Systems Engineer to join our team to help design, configure, program, commission, and troubleshoot electronic security systems.

This is a hands-on technical position working with access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, networking, servers, databases, and integrated security platforms . You'll work closely with Project Managers, field technicians, customers, IT teams, and other trades to deliver reliable, professionally installed security solutions.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, takes ownership of their work, communicates well, and takes pride in delivering systems that work the way they should.

What You'll Do

• Install, configure, program, test, commission, and troubleshoot electronic security systems.
• Work with access control, IP video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, and integrated security platforms.
• Configure security system software, servers, workstations, databases, field hardware, and system integrations.
• Design and configure network architecture required to support security systems.
• Work with TCP/IP networks, client/server architecture, virtual environments, Windows operating systems, and database applications.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, programming, database, network, and communication issues.
• Read and interpret security drawings, specifications, risers, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and project documentation.
• Develop technical solutions based on customer requirements and project scope.
• Work with Project Management and Sales during site visits, system design, and project planning.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support for installed systems.
• Assist field technicians with programming, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Coordinate professionally with customers, IT departments, General Contractors, manufacturers, and other trades.
• Communicate technical issues, risks, delays, and system requirements clearly and promptly.
• Test and verify system functionality prior to customer turnover.
• Maintain accurate system documentation, programming information, configurations, and installed asset records.
• Complete project notes, time entries, testing documentation, and technical reports as required.
• Train customers on system operations and administration.
• Follow company standards, manufacturer best practices, and cybersecurity practices.
• Maintain and expand technical knowledge through training and manufacturer certifications.

What We're Looking For

• Experience with enterprise-level electronic security systems.
• Strong experience with access control and IP video surveillance .
• Experience programming, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting security systems.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, network switches, and basic network troubleshooting .
• Experience with Windows operating systems, client/server environments, virtual machines, and database applications.
• SQL knowledge or experience is a plus.
• Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, and network documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the project team.
• Strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Hands-on experience or certifications with one or more of the following is preferred: AMAG, Lenel/LenelS2, Avigilon, Axis, Milestone, OpenPath/Avigilon Alta, Brivo, Bosch , or similar enterprise security platforms.
• Valid driver's license required, as travel to customer locations is an essential function of this position.
