Staff Attorney

The Staff Attorney is responsible for drafting commercial real estate and commercial and industrial (C&I) loan documents. This position collaborates with legal assistants with document preparation and other necessary tasks. The Staff Attorney conducts legal research and corresponds with outside counsel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and advises regarding commercial real estate and C&I loan documents. This duty is performed daily, about 40% of the time. Supports the continuous improvement of standard form loan documents and related legal processes. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time. Advises lenders, closers, and processors regarding legal matters related to loan documentation. This duty is performed as needed, about 25% of the time. Drafts and updates the banks form loan documents. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time. Corresponds with outside counsel and title companies regarding loan documentation matters. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time. Conducts legal research and analysis as needed. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

Professional degree (J.D., Ph.D., M.D., etc.), plus 4 years’ related experience and/or training, and 19 to 23 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
