Instrumentation/Automation Service Engineer I

This entry-level service engineering role supports Abbott's laboratory operations by diagnosing and repairing instrumentation and automation system failures. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, calibration, root cause analysis, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards such as FDA, ISO, and CLIA. The position emphasizes technical development, cross-functional collaboration, and process improvement in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and resolve failures in laboratory instrumentation and automation systems
• Conduct preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure reliability
• Document service activities according to Good Documentation Practices and regulatory standards
• Escalate complex issues to senior staff and contribute to root cause investigations
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors on troubleshooting and process improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Electronics, or related field; or Associate degree with 2 years relevant experience; or high school diploma with 4 years relevant experience
• Experience interpreting mechanical parts and assembly drawings
• Experience with electrical circuits, diagrams, and measurement tools like multimeters
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds regularly
• Currently authorized to work in country; no visa sponsorship available
• Mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing methods understanding preferred
• Experience in regulated environments (ISO, GMP, FDA, CLIA) preferred

Compensation: $27.35–$54.75/hour
