Wholesale Distributor of Building Materials

Reports To: Inside Sales Manager | Location: On-site in Pennsauken, NJ

Hourly Pay Range: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, plus the benefits described below

Position Overview

 

Inside Sales Representative: You'll own and grow a defined book of accounts for Fessenden Hall. Know your customers' businesses, reach out before they call you, and convert quotes into orders - building relationships that drive real, measurable growth.

 

What You'll Do

 

Core Responsibilities:

• Own and grow an assigned account list - daily planned outbound calls, proactive dormant-account reactivation, and cross-selling on open orders
• Own quote-to-order conversion for non-stock and special-order items, following up within 1-2 business days on every open quote
• Partner with assigned Field Sales Representatives as a shared account team - own stock checks, pricing, and order expediting so customers don't have to bypass inside sales to reach the field
• Manage incoming calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries to facilitate product purchases and deliver superior customer experience
• Build sustainable customer relationships through open, interactive communication and a solutions-oriented mindset
• Identify, assess, and fulfill customer needs - handling questions, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and care
• Confirm stock, including incoming transfers; quote realistic lead times up front; and validate order math on special orders
• Meet or exceed personal and team sales targets

 

Day-to-Day Activities:

• Respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally via phone, email, and at the sales counter
• Utilize our product database, supplier contacts, operations staff, and department managers to provide customers with accurate information
• Log every account touch - calls, emails, quotes, and orders - in Agility
• Attend sales meetings and company-sponsored training programs
• Also supports: over-the-counter sales, point-of-sale/cash register and credit card transactions, physical inventory counts, and company events as needed

 

How We Measure Success

 

Through Defined Key Performance Indicators:

• Outbound calls per day
• Quote-to-order conversion rate
• Revenue growth on assigned accounts
• Order accuracy

 

What We're Looking For

 

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma required; minimum 2+ years of B2B inside sales or account management experience required
• Experience in countertop, cabinetry, woodworking, or building materials is a strong plus

 

Essential Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine customer service mindset
• Comfortable making outbound calls and driving conversations toward a close
• Skilled at asking discovery questions, handling objections, and negotiating within pricing guidelines
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn our Agility software

 

Requirements:

• On-site position at our Pennsauken, NJ location (not remote/work-from-home)
• Flexibility to support occasional overtime for inventory counts or company events

Exceptional Medical Coverage

Fessenden Hall covers 80% of your premium. An employer-funded HRA reimburses your full deductible each year, up to $4,000 individual or $8,000 family. Your effective deductible is $0. Out-of-pocket max is $6,550; above that, insurance pays 100%.

 

Fully employer-paid coverage. Dental, vision, life, AD&D (1x salary to $50,000), short-term disability, and long-term disability (60% income replacement to age 65). Premiums are covered at 100%.
