Under the general direction of the Department Supervisor and within established policies and procedures, the Cardiovascular Radiographer operates radiology equipment and assists physicians in diagnostic cardiac, interventional vascular, and electrophysiology (EP) procedures. This role ensures patient safety and comfort and oversees procedural preparation.

Major Responsibilities:

• Prepares procedure rooms:• Inspects cleanliness and equipment functionality.• Stocks supplies and ensures readiness for procedures.
• Prepares patients:• Positions and supports patients for angiograms.• Uses sterile technique and provides emotional support.
• Performs interventional procedures:• Operates ancillary equipment (e.g., balloon pumps, injectors).• Follows protocols for cardiac catheterizations, vascular, and EP procedures.
• Manages imaging systems:• Operates imaging equipment and C-arm.• Identifies and resolves image quality issues.
• Documents procedures:• Records ECG and hemodynamic data.• Maintains radiation badge logs and manages billing/coding in Heartlab/Mac Lab.

All responsibilities are essential job functions.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education: Required:1. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technological program2. A.R.R.T. registered3. Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License4. ACLS and current CPR certificationPreferred:1. None specified

Experience/Skills: Required: 1. At least 1 years of experience in Cardiac Cath, EP or IR radiography2. High-level knowledge of interventional radiology3. Strong anatomy and physiology understanding4. Proficiency in multitasking, organization, and attention to detail5. Presentation and mentoring skillsPreferred:1. None specified

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
