Equipment Application Specialist II

Job Overview Trane Technologies is hiring for Application Engineer II (Equipment) at Trane in Livonia, MI. The role focuses on the equipment portion of various projects, including validation of equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittal processes, and ensuring budget performance. Responsibilities Optimize and validate equipment sizing, configuration, voltage, options, etc. by reviewing plans, specifications, estimates, and proposals. Evaluate potential cost savings and cost problems on projects. Validate project scope by reviewing transition documents, plans, and specifications, and list possible savings and problems. Plan equipment and VPP dollar breaks and validate quantities and configurations. Support the sales team and develop preliminary or final submittals as required. Lead job cost consensus meetings, release submittals, and make necessary changes. Negotiate vendor prices, stay abreast of industry trends, and optimize expenses. Prepare equipment for order entry, verify pricing, revise coordination worksheet, and reconcile job costs. Provide technical support after order closure, including equipment installation, start‑up, warranty service, and control operations. Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles (or equivalent education and experience). Alternatively, minimum of 5 years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles (or equivalent). Familiarity with HVAC systems and/or temperature controls preferred. Flexibility to work outside normal hours, if required. Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major violations. Compensation Annual base salary range: $70,400.00 – $128,379.99. Position is a salary role. Incentive eligible: Yes.
